Grieving parents fight to end distracted driving

Reporting by Andrew Adamson [Published : Oct 17 2012

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – After losing their daughter to a distracted driver back in 2009, a mother and father are using their grief to teach others about safety behind the wheel.

Dianne Anderson and Joel Feldman’s daughter Casey was attempting to cross a street at a four-way stop when she was killed by a distracted driver. Now, they are teaming up with the Rhode Island Association of Justice to create a program to educate young drivers.

“I can’t bring her back, but at least we can do some things so people remember her … and that her life and her death make a difference for others,” Joel said.

As the founders of the Casey Feldman Memorial Foundation, the parents are handing out wristbands to remind drivers to stay focused at the wheel.
