Joel Feldman, EndDD.org founder, was awarded the American Association for Justice (AAJ) 2013 Pro Bono Award by AAJ president Mary Alice McClarty for his work to raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving.

Also receiving an award was Jeff Weinstein of Texas, who has undertaken the EndDD program and has volunteered his time to speak to thousands of teens about the dangers of distracted driving. The AAJ is the world’s largest trial bar and supports efforts to ensure access to the courts by individuals and consumers. The award was presented on July 21st at the AAJ’s national conference in San Francisco.

Since his daughter Casey was killed by a distracted driver in 2009 Joel has worked with national, state and local safety professionals to reduce distracted driving. He created EndDD.org and regularly speaks to adults, teens and businesses about distracted driving, produces PSA’s and developed training materials for a power point presentation that has been used by professionals in more than 40 states and Canada to reach nearly 100,000 teens and adults.

Feldman also utilized his time at the six day conference to speak about the EndDD distracted driving program and recruited additional volunteers throughout the country to carry the message to their local communities.

“It is an honor to receive this award and my family is so grateful for the support of so many trial lawyers in helping to bring our distracted driving program to high schools across the nation,” said Joel. “I am also grateful to my law firm, Anapol Schwartz for supporting my efforts since the death of Casey.”

“As we talk with more and more teens I am optimistic that one day distracted driving will no longer be socially acceptable.”
