Carl S. Cutler – 63, PA

Carl S. Cutler, age 63, was taking his daily bike ride near the Pelican Island Wildlife Sanctuary in Vero Beach Florida on May 29, 2021 when he was struck and killed by a distracted driver. He was riding in the designated bike lane on a clear dry morning with front and back lights on his bike flashing, when the driver of a vehicle traveling 50 mph veered into the bike lane. The driver was cited for careless driving and received a $148 fine. 

Carl was known to be a social, fun loving person with a great sense of humor. He knew how to put a smile on the faces of those around him. He was selfless, loving, supportive and extremely positive. 

He was born in Royal Oak, Michigan but spent the majority of his life (40+ years) in the Philadelphia area. He was the proud father of two sons, Bradford S. Cutler (28), and Ryan T. Cutler (26), and a daughter, Laura J. Cutler (23) born and raised in Villanova, PA. He spent over thirty years of his career at Brown Brothers Harriman and retired as a Partner of the firm managing the Philadelphia office. 

In addition to work, he was on the Board of the Academy of Natural Sciences and also served on the Board of the Starfinder Foundation. He enjoyed his near-daily rounds of golf as well as soccer, hiking, skiing, tennis and pickleball. Carl loved to travel and spend time with friends and family in Glen Lake, Michigan, Avalon, New Jersey and Tuckers Point, Bermuda.

His daughter, Laura will be running in the Philadelphia Half Marathon on November 18, 2023 in support of EndDD.org and to raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving.
