Masillon Attorney Makes Distracted Driving Front Page News

Larry Slagle, of Slagle Law Offices, was featured in an article starting on page 1 of “The Independent”, a local newspaper in Masillon Ohio. Larry is one of the many attorneys across the country taking part in our End Distracted Driving Student Awareness Initiative.   Larry was one of the first speakers.  He presented to roughly 350 students at Tuslaw High School on March 30th

The Ohio Highway Safety Patrol defines distracted driving as any non-driving activity that has the potential to distracted a motorist from the primary task of driving and increases the risk of a crash.

“It’s becoming more of a problem as society moves forward.”  Slagle told the Independent.  People drive distracted because they think they can multi-task.  Teens are at a greater risk because they are inexperienced drivers and believe that they are invincible.  Teens who were raised with cell phones and texting believe they can do so behind the wheel without affecting their driving.

While a state-wide texting ban has been stalled in the Senate  Highways and Transportation Committee, Cleveland and several other cities have enacted citywide texting bans.
