On May 30, 2007, 16-year-old Cady Reynolds was driving her best friend home from a movie near Omaha, NE when another 16-year-old driver was distracted and ran a red light, slamming into Cady’s car at 50MPH. Cady was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries and died the next day.
Cady was a 16-year old with a future as bright as her smile. She was a sophomore at Marian High School in Omaha, NE and the oldest of 5 children. Cady was a hard worker who believed in the importance of giving back to her community. Cady was a leader at school and in the community, active in student council, ministry and service clubs.
“She stood out,” says Head of Marion High School, Elizabeth Kish. “She was a go-getter. Her personality was absolutely spectacular; exuberant; likeable; very compassionate to others.”
The organization, C.A.R. Alliance for Safer Teen Driving, began as a result of Cady’s tragedy. C.A.R. has produced a video about Cady which may be viewed here.
Cady is also part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s “Faces of Distracted Driving” series. View the video below:
