Ashley LeeAnn Johnson 16, from Arden, NC dropped a friend off at school and was on her way to work as a tutor. She lost control of her car and crossed the center line of the roadway, striking a truck head-on. The police believe that Ashley was trying to retrieve a text message from her cell phone at the time of the crash.
Ashley was born in Buncombe County, NC and was the daughter of Amos Johnson of Arden and the late Lena Ingle.
Ashley was a former student at Valley Springs Middle School and a sophomore at Buncombe County Early College in NC at the time of her death. She was a member of the Words of Life Tabernacle Church in Arden.
