Angelina Bandino was killed by a distracted driver while walking home with friends after school on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 in San Bernardino, California. She was fifteen years old. The operator of the pickup truck was an eighteen-year-old who had made three phone calls and sent two text messages in the minutes before and during the crash. When the car approached the girls and it was evident that it would not stop, Angelina pushed her friend Desiree out of the way before the impact, saving her life. Angelina was killed on impact and one friend, critically injured.
Angelina and her friends were walking along a pedestrian walkway just three houses away from Angelina’s home when the crash occurred.
