“Distracted drivers, on average, take their eyes off the road for about five seconds. In that time, a vehicle traveling 55 miles can cover the length of a football field, including the end zones.
That’s more than enough time to become involved in a fatal accident, Stephen L. Williams, of the Williams Law Firm, told a large group of students Thursday at Terre Haute South Vigo High School. It is the fourth year that Williams has given the presentation at South, as well as at Terre Haute North Vigo High School. Williams was one of 850 attorneys statewide with the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association to volunteer time to reach out to more than 40,000 students statewide.
