On Tuesday, March 31st, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will be holding its first muilti-model roundtable discussion,”Disconnect From Deadly Distractions” in its offices in Washington, D.C. The roundtable will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., is open to the public and will also be webcast live.
Recognizing the increasing use of personal electronic devices in all modes of transportation, the NTSB added “Disconnect From Deadly Distractions” to its “Most Wanted List of Transportation Safety Improvments 2015” earlier this year.
The roundtable will examine the problem of distraction in transportation in an effort to find solutions. Some 40 different modal experts, researchers, advocates, educators, industry, and others will share knowledge and experiences in their disciplines, and discuss innovative solutions aimed at reducing deaths an injuries due to distraction.
From 11:05 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. EndDD’s Joel Feldman will be among the speakers on the Education, Legislation & Enforcement track along with Dana Schrad, VA Association of Chiefs of Police and Jennifer Smith, StopDistractions.org.
If you are a social media person, the NTSB has requested use of the hashtag #DeadlyDistractions.
