“More than 3,000 people in the United States were killed or injured by a distracted driver in 2012….
These are just a few of the statistics offered by Jonathan D. Orent, one of several lawyers who volunteered to instruct high school students about the hazards of distracted driving.
Orent belongs to the Rhode Island Association of Justice, a nonprofit group whose members promote the public good by strengthening civil rights through education, safeguarding consumer rights and upholding the U.S. Constitution….
This week, the association teamed up with the Casey Feldman Foundation to present an “End Distracted Driving Program” to teenagers who are taking drivers’ education classes at the Community College of Rhode Island.
Joel Feldman, a trial lawyer in Philadelphia, launched the program after his daughter Casey was killed by a distracted driver three years ago. This tragedy spawned Feldman’s quest to bring the message of distracted driving to youth around the country….”
