What resonated with me most from the Distracted Driving presentation was Jessie Cohen’s perspective. Mr. Cohen had run over a police officer, putting him in a coma and stripping him away from his wife, son, and newborn daughter. That officer will never get to play catch with his son or walk his daughter down the aisle. He will never get to go on holidays with his family, watch his children grow up, or embrace his wife again, leaving her all alone to raise two children. This powerfully tragic story really resonated with me because, just looking away for one second, Jessie ruined the life of this family and must live with that guilt every day for the rest of his life. This really put into perspective how distracted driving can impact those around you even more than yourself.
